You've done so much work on yourself. So why do the old patterns keep showing up?
You've read the books about emotionally immature parents. You understand where it all came from. Maybe you've been in therapy for years. And still, the same things keep happening.
You say yes when you mean no, then quietly resent it. You redo the email four times because one mistake feels like proof you're not good enough. You lie awake after a phone call with your mother, replaying every word. A small conflict with a partner or a coworker sends you straight into panic or shutdown. And underneath it all is that familiar hum of shame, as if you're always one step away from being in trouble.
If you grew up with a parent who didn't see you as your own person, this makes sense. Your body learned to survive in that house. It learned that mistakes were dangerous, that your needs came last, and that keeping the peace kept you safe. It's still running that program, even if your parent is still in your life today and you're doing everything "right."
Most healing focuses on understanding your past. The people who actually change learn to work with how their body still holds it.
That's the difference between:
The good news? Your nervous system can learn a new way to respond. It isn't too late, and you don't need to become a different person.
When you learn to work with the body that learned to survive, you can finally move from surviving your childhood to living your own life: more present, more confident, and more connected to the people you choose.
That's exactly what this program is designed to help you do.
Introducing
Free to Be Here™
Break the Childhood Survival Patterns Still Living in Your Body—and Become Free to Live, Love & Choose as You
The complete somatic program for adults raised by emotionally immature parents
This is everything Inga has learned in a lifetime of healing and 25+ years of clinical work, in one place. It walks you through the 7-step pattern she has tested and refined with 10 groups and nearly 100 people, from understanding your nervous system all the way to untethering from your parents' old material.
Most approaches work on your thoughts, your skills, or your behavior. This one goes deeper.
You'll work directly with a body that became dysregulated and can't think clearly when it's activated, a body that holds anxious or disengaged attachment, and a body that physically holds poor boundaries. The somatic approach runs through every module, so you're not just learning about healing. You're experiencing it.
Inside this program, you'll learn a step-by-step process for calming your nervous system and changing the patterns your childhood left behind, without having to retell your story over and over.
Through guided video and audio lessons lessons, and experiential somatic exercises, you'll learn how to:
- Understand your nervous system and calm it in the moment, with practical regulation skills you can use anytime
- Recognize your attachment patterns and how your body holds them, so you can connect without losing yourself
- Set boundaries, risk imperfection, and work through shame and guilt from the inside out
- Let go of what you absorbed from your parents, whether they're still in your life or not
What You'll Be Able to Do After This Program
By learning to work with your body instead of against it, you will:
Wake up without immediately feeling overwhelmed
You'll have daily practices that build long-term resilience, so stress doesn't run your morning before you've even started.
Handle conflict without losing yourself
You'll stay present when someone is upset with you, instead of shutting down, people-pleasing, or spiraling afterward.
Feel more confident, connected, and patient
You'll trust yourself when you make a mistake, choose who you let in, and show up for the people you love from a calmer place.
Have a relationship with your parents on your terms
Whether they're still in your life or not, guilt, hope, and obligation won't be the ones making the decisions.
What Clients Say About Working With Inga
"By being more aware of my body I now stay rather than flee my emotions."
— Hillary K.
"Her psychosomatic approach… helped me approach and work through deep childhood traumas I wouldn't dare touch on in other types of therapy because it wasn't necessary for me to have to retell that story… every single time I left I felt like something in me shifted."
— Sahala H.
"I feel less crazy! I love to blame myself for everything… It's not our fault that we have developed some of the negative traits that come with being a child of a parent with emotional immaturity."
— Rachel Q.
"Inga has helped me learn about myself and my anxiety, be in tune with what is going on in my body, and has given me a toolbox of techniques I can use to manage my anxiety and daily life stressors."
— Brandy L.
Who Is Inga Larson?
If you've spent years understanding your childhood and still feel it in your body, I understand. I've lived it.
I was raised by an emotionally immature mother and a personality-disordered father. My father was a psychiatrist: brilliant, intellectual, and emotionally out of reach. Our home was full of ideas and short on safety. By 20, I was anxious, ashamed, and always trying to figure out what I'd done wrong.
Healing didn't come from thinking my way out. It came through groups, emotionally healthy mentors, and slowly learning to feel safe in my own body. I didn't need to become a different person. I needed to teach my nervous system a new way to respond.
That became my life's work. I facilitated support groups for Parents Anonymous, earned my master's in social work, and spent more than 25 years as a licensed clinical social worker in private practice specializing in complex PTSD. I've worked with more than a thousand individuals, couples, and families. I've also led 10 rounds of my group for adult children of personality-disordered parents, with nearly 100 members.
Those groups are where this program was born. Round after round, I tested and refined a seven-step pattern that actually works, with the somatic approach woven through every step. Free to Be Here™ is that pattern, all in one place, so you can work through it at your own pace. It's not just 25 years of clinical work. It's a lifetime of it.
What You’ll Learn Inside Free to Be Here™
You may already understand a lot about your childhood. Free to Be Here™ helps you take the next step: recognizing how those early experiences still show up in your body, relationships, and automatic reactions—and learning what to do differently.
-
Understand Why Your Body Still Reacts Like the Past Is Happening
Learn what happens in your nervous system when something triggers an old survival response—and why you can know you're safe, know what you should do, and still find yourself anxious, frozen, people-pleasing, shutting down, or unable to stop thinking about it.
You'll learn the brain and body science in plain English, including stress physiology, neuroplasticity, and the gut-brain connection, so your reactions begin to make sense rather than feel like something is wrong with you.
-
Learn How to Come Back to Yourself
Build a practical set of somatic skills for the moments when your body takes over.
You'll learn grounding, resourcing, orienting, the Toe Dip/pendulation, movement and other body-based practices that help you work with anxiety, overwhelm, shutdown, shame, anger, and fight-or-flight activation—without having to think your way out of what you're feeling.
You'll also have Somatic First Aid: short guided audios, step-by-step instructions, and save-to-your-phone cards for those “I need help right now” moments.
-
Understand Your Attachment Patterns—and Stop Losing Yourself in Relationships
Discover what you learned about closeness, safety, love, and belonging—and how those early lessons may still influence the way you connect today.
Whether you tend to pursue, please, worry and overthink—or pull away, shut down and convince yourself you don't need anyone—you'll learn to recognize what happens in your body when connection feels threatened.
Then you'll practice something different: staying connected to yourself while being connected to someone else.
-
Build Boundaries, Risk Imperfection & Trust Yourself
Learn why saying no can feel dangerous even when you know you're allowed to say it—and how to hold a boundary without automatically explaining, apologizing, giving in, or letting someone else's disappointment decide for you.
You'll also work with perfectionism and judgment at their roots. Instead of trying to become someone who doesn't care about getting things right, you'll practice making mistakes, tolerating the discomfort of imperfection, learning from what happens, and trusting yourself to let it be, adjust, or repair when necessary.
-
Stop Letting Guilt & Shame Make Your Decisions
Learn to recognize the difference between feeling guilty and actually being responsible—and between “I did something I regret” and “there's something wrong with me.”
You'll work with shame and guilt not only as thoughts, but as experiences in the body. You'll practice staying with yourself when shame tells you to hide, guilt tells you to give in, or self-criticism tells you to punish yourself.
The goal isn't to stop caring about your impact on other people. It's to take genuine responsibility without taking responsibility for everything.
-
Untether From the Past—and Decide What Comes With You
You don't need your parents to understand, apologize, change, or participate in repair before you can begin deciding what happens next.
You'll explore grief, forgiveness, acceptance, repair, reconciliation, contact, and release as different things—so forgiveness isn't treated as a requirement for healing.
You'll look honestly at the relationship that's actually available, work with the part of you that may still be waiting for something different, and decide how you want to participate now.
And finally, you'll turn toward what's possible when so much of your energy no longer has to be organized around the past: greater self-trust, confidence, connection, choice, and the freedom to build a life that feels like yours.
-
Daily Emotional Resilience
Build habits that keep you steady for the long run: better sleep, exercise for emotional health, working through resistance, and releasing overwhelm.
Plus: lifetime access.
This is an evergreen program. Take each step in order, and take as long as you need. Once it's yours, it's yours for good.
This isn't just a course you'll understand.
It's a process you'll practice.
Throughout Free to Be Here™, you won't simply learn about attachment, boundaries, perfectionism, shame, or your nervous system. You'll repeatedly practice the same process with each pattern:
- Notice what triggered you
- recognize what happens in your body
- uncover the old meaning or prediction
- regulate enough to stay present
- discover what your adult self knows now
- choose how you want to respond.
Because the goal isn't to become a person who never gets triggered.
It's to become someone who can recognize when the past has entered the room—and increasingly choose from the life you're living now.

YES! I'M READY TO HEAL BEYOND SURVIVALFrequently Asked Questions
I've already done years of therapy and reading. How is this different?
Most approaches work on your thoughts, your skills, or your behavior. This program works with your body: how it got dysregulated, how it holds attachment patterns, and how it physically holds poor boundaries. That's often why good insight doesn't stick. You don't have to retell your story to do this work.
I took The Embodied No. Is this more of the same?
The Embodied No focuses on one piece: boundaries. This program covers the full seven-step pattern, including attachment, perfectionism, shame and guilt, and untethering from your parents. Some topics overlap, but here they go deeper and connect into one path.
Do I need experience with somatic work?
No. Every exercise is guided. You'll start by understanding your nervous system and learning simple regulation skills before you go deeper.
My parent is still in my life. Is this still for me?
Yes. Many people in Inga's groups still have a relationship with their parents. This program helps you stay steady around them and decide what that relationship looks like, without needing to confront anyone or cut anyone off.
How long does it take, and how long do I have access?
It's self-paced, with lifetime access. Take the steps in order, and take as long as you need with each one. You get 9 modules, with 50+ 10 to 15 minute lessons.
What if the exercises bring up big feelings?
You'll go at your own pace. The regulation skills in Module 2 are there for exactly those moments, so you can settle back into calmer waters. If you want live support, the VIP Experience adds weekly group coaching with Inga.
Is this therapy?
This is an educational course created by a qualified coach with 25 years of clinical experience, not a substitute for therapy or mental health treatment. If you're in crisis, please reach out to a licensed professional or local emergency services.
